Our society was based on fossil fuels, and fossil fuels are still dominant sources of energy. There are two main reasons why alternative energy sources are getting so much attention in the last few years- the fact that fossil fuels are limited resources that will eventually become depleted and also the fact that fossil fuels burning create massive damage to our environment, particularly in form of climate change.

I like this post!

I'm pro solar energy. I found this post very informative, this could help people decide to divert their source of energy. Thanks for this post!

If you are looking to sell back your surplus power, there is a scheme called Feed-in-Tariff which works on the basis that you the consumer will get paid for each kilowatt hour of electricity your renewable energy product produces.

Feed-in-Tariff is defiantly something to read more about :)

even with the price drop, solar cells are still quite expensive if you want to get more than 500 Watts .

The share of renewable energy in overall electricity generated increased from 13-13.6% between 2001 and 2008 in the EU and from 7.7-9.1% between 2001 and 2008 in the US. This figure shows some significant growth although i believe there will be more evident substancial growth in the coming years.
